En Hermosillo se estima que hay alrededor de 70 mil perros callejeros, de los 170 mil que hay en la ciudad, de acuerdo a un estudio de organizaciones animaleras.
Esto genera un grave problema de salud pública, pues cada perro genera alrededor de 300 gramos de material fecal diariamente, lo que equivale a 20 toneladas de desechos en las calles.
Norberto Barraza Almazán, titular de Servicios Público municipales, señaló que es responsabilidad de los dueños mantener a las mascotas en el interior de las casas y limpiar sus desechos.
Cabe señalar que la única solución para la proliferación de más perros sin dueño es la esterilización de los canes, operaciones que son hechas de forma gratuita o a bajo costo por el Centro de Atención Canina y Felina.
El centro realiza jornadas de esterilizaciones actualmente en 18 colonias de distintos puntos de la capital sonorense.
